Week 5 2014

                                                                Woodwork

At woodwork we carved figures and butterknives. When your carving you have one hand at the knife and one hand at the wood. You were allowed to choose what kind of figure you wanted to carv.

                                        100 Book List

          In 4B we have started a book list, you are supposed to read about 6 swedish chapter books each. The class has already read 11

books. We have a big paper with 100 lines, on the lines you write  

the title of the book, the name of the author and your name. When we have read 100 hundred books we will get a prize, but we don't now what the prize is!

                                                                      Sewing

We made friendship bracelets in sewing. We took 5 different colors of string then we tied them together.

Then we made a 4 shape like this 

         

Then it looked like a  bigger string that we tied into a bracelet.

STUDENTS' CHOICE

Some of the choices this period were Sock Puppets, Chess, Art, and Alfred Nobel. Myself, Julian was in Sock Puppets and Isak was in Chess. Students choice started with that students wanted there own lesson. The teachers said it was ok so they made a list of things that the students could choose from. Sock Puppets was an app that you could be a digital puppet and record and film, we made a script, chose groups, and recorded. In chess we learn moves and strategies so that we get better at thinking quickly.

MATH FOR X table

We did rhymes for the time's table. It was really fun.  We can give you some example.

- 5 and 2 are in Big Ben 5 x 2 =10

- 5 and 1 are doing fine 5 x 1 = 5

-5 and 6 are very flirty  5 and 6= 30

Some more examples

-7 and 6 are really blue 7x6 =is 42

-7and 9 are drinking tea 7x9 is 63

-7and 10 are climbing up a tree 7 and 10 =70  

Drawing Sunflowers in Math

This week we worked on drawing sunflowers. It sounds like it is art but it is actually a part of math. It is math because different groups got different scales.1:1 is real life, 1:2 is half of the real, 1:3 is a third of of real life and 1:4. 2 groups worked on each scale. Our class worked out that 1:1 is about 180 cm, 1:2 is about 90 cm, 1:3 is about 60 cm, and 1:4 is about 45 cm. Several people are done but not all.

                                                            optical Illusions

This week in art class we drew optical illusions. We drew circles and made them in to an optical illusion to look like spheres.We drew two types of them. One in pencil and one in oil pastels. Some people made cylinder in pencil. Here is a video of someone drawing a sphere.

Blogg week5 geography

 

 This week’s blogg is about geography. We have been doing about Sweden´s culture. We have done geography tests about the city, farming and nature.

Next week we are doing about the sea. The following week we are doing about the mountains up north. So every week we get a paper from our Swedish teacher where it says all the information about that subject. Then we have one week to read the paper so many times that it gets stuck in our head, and then we get the test next week. On the test it says many different questions about the subject. Then when you have handed in the test you can´t take it back. Then after one week more you get back the test and then you see the results.
